The Texas chapter of the American Federation of Teachers is currently accepting donations for their Disaster Relief Fund to provide relief to members that have been affected by Hurricane Hanna, according to a release on their website.

School staff and their families on the lower Gulf Coast and in the Rio Grande Valley have been impacted by the heavy winds and flooding caused by Hurricane Hanna and need assistance.

During the hurricane, Union members diligently worked around the clock to check in with fellow members, their families, students and communities.

Texas AFT has a proud history of providing support to its members in need during times of disaster (the Bastrop fires, Hurricane Harvey, Houston flooding, Hurricane Maria and the Dallas tornado), according to the press release. Aid is provided in many forms as needed including: financial relief, providing safe spaces to stay and regroup and providing cleanup assistance.

Donations to Texas AFT’s Disaster Relief Fund can be made here.
