Austin-based tech and music festival SXSW has announced that its 2021 event will be held completely online, according to a news release by the Association of Texas Professional Educators.

The SXSW EDU conference event will take place on Mar. 9–11, 2021 with SXSW Online following on March 16-20, 2021.This is the first time the festival will be held remotely. The decision to hold the event virtually was in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

SXSW Online is planning to offer the same features fans of the festival have previously enjoyed including: keynote speakers, opportunities for networking, showcases, screenings, educational sessions and exhibitions.

SXSW is currently working with Austin city officials on the possibility of a 2021 physical event, pandemic conditions allowing.  Updates can be found by signing up online or by using #SXSWEDU on social media.

Visitors can also visit SXSW Sessions On Demand, which features sessions from 2020 speakers.

SXSW 2020 was previously canceled back in Mar., 2020 due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
