The Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) posted a reminder on its website that October is National Principals Month.

National Principals Month is a way to recognize principals for the valuable efforts they contribute every day. They provide leadership, guidance and support to students, teachers, and education staff in ways big and small. As COVID-19 presented unprecedented challenges, principals everywhere rose to the occasion.

For the month of October, American Federation of School Administrators (AFSA), the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP), the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), and also students, parents, teachers, and school leaders will come together to honor our champions of education. National Principals Month is a call for us to advocate for educational leaders everywhere to inform local, state, and federal governments about the challenges principals face and raise awareness for legislation to benefit our school leaders and their students.

Legislators have taken notice. The month-long event has made its way to the Senate and House of Representatives to officially recognize October as National Principals Month.
