Five Texas school boards were chosen as part of the 2020 the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) School Board Awards' Honor School Boards, TASA said in a news release.

The five school boards included Sheldon ISD Board of Trustees, Mesquite ISD Board of Trustees, Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD Board of Trustees, Temple ISD Board of Trustees and Tornillo ISD Board of Trustees.
"Our trustees are a dedicated, passionate and hard-working group of individuals who care deeply about their role in school governance,” Sheldon ISD Board of Trustees-Region 4 nominating superintendent King Davis said in a news release. "They work diligently to ensure the district continues to follow its vision to ‘provide personalized learning opportunities to ensure all students graduate college and career ready.’"
Mesquite ISD Board of Trustees-Region 10 nominating superintendent David Vroonland said the board's leadership and desire to take the school board to higher levels of excellence is an inspiration to him.
“The individuals who serve on this board are bold in their commitment to delivering an educational system that ensures our students graduate with the skills and knowledge that will put them in control of their freedom and a future of their choosing," Vroonland said in the news release.
The five honor boards were chosen by a committee of state school superintendents.
There were also nine school boards that were recognized for the 2020 Regional Honor Boards, including McAllen ISD Board of Trustees, Calhoun County ISD Board of Trustees, Vidor ISD Board of Trustees, Whitehouse ISD Board of Education, Throckmorton Collegiate ISD Board of Trustees, Pflugerville ISD Board of Trustees, San Angelo ISD Board of Trustees, Dumas ISD Board of Trustees and San Elizario ISD Board of Trustees.
TASA has been honoring school boards since 1971.
