Report: Herscher School District spent $12,389 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Herscher Community Unit School District 2 was up 13.6 percent from five years ago, according to the Education Daily Wire analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Kankakee County school district spent $10,904 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $12,389 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 1,764 to 1,680 students over the same period.

Herscher's spending in 2019-20 was 14.5 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
