Report: Thornton School District spent $25,566 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Thornton Township High School District 205 was up 28.9 percent from five years ago, according to the Education Daily Wire analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Cook County school district spent $19,830 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $25,566 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 5,172 to 4,722 students over the same period.

Thornton's spending in 2019-20 was 76.4 percent higher than the state average of $14,492.
