Marcus Delgado, Deputy Secretary of Administration | Pennsylvania Department Of Education
Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding visited the Nissley family's 10th-generation dairy farm in Middletown to mark National Ag Day. The visit highlighted the progress made possible by strategic investments from the Shapiro Administration aimed at supporting farms across Pennsylvania.
The Nissley family utilized a Pennsylvania Farm Vitality Planning Grant in 2024 for legal and business planning services, ensuring their farm remains within the family. Recently, they received one of the first Pennsylvania Agricultural Innovation Grants to conduct a feasibility study for an anaerobic digester. This technology aims to convert farm waste into energy to power their operations.
"At Jubilee Dairy and family farms like it across Pennsylvania, we are seeing the results of our investments with and for our farm families," said Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding. "On kitchen tables, and in the businesses and communities that depend on family farms succeeding, we can see firsthand how Shapiro Administration investments with broad bi-partisan support are feeding Pennsylvania's economic future, protecting our rich agricultural heritage, and preparing businesses, families, and communities to meet the challenges ahead."
Speakers at the event included PA Agriculture Business Development Center Director Stephanie Shirk, PA Department of Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding, Jubilee Heritage Owner Kendra Nissley, and Future Farmers of America State Reporter Evan Espenshade.
