Shante' Brown, Deputy Secretary of Child Development and Early Learning | Pennsylvania Department Of Education
Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry Secretary Nancy A. Walker will participate in the Rosie's Girls pre-apprenticeship program event to celebrate the graduation of its latest cohort. The program aims to increase women's representation in building and construction trades. This event also highlights the Shapiro Administration's investment in workforce development programs.
Governor Josh Shapiro, through his first two budgets, has increased funding for vocational-technical education, career and technical education (CTE), and apprenticeships by nearly $65 million, marking a 50 percent increase since he took office. The Governor's proposed budget for 2025-26 continues this trend with investments aimed at addressing workforce shortages across various sectors, including education, child care, and health care.
The graduation ceremony begins at 10:00 AM and is followed by the 3rd Annual Rosie's Girls Trade Fair from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The fair brings together students, city and state leaders, tool and trade vendors, and other pre-apprenticeship programs. Notably, the event coincides with National Rosie the Riveter Day.
