The Nevada State Board of Education has initiated a public survey to collect input in the search for a new State Superintendent of Public Instruction. On Monday, the Board announced its intention to involve stakeholders statewide to define the essential qualities, experiences, and priorities required for the individual who will head Nevada’s public education system.

The survey, which is accessible online, is open for responses until May 6. Dr. Katherine Dockweiler, president of the Nevada State Board of Education, emphasized the importance of community input in this process. "The selection of our next State Superintendent is a critical decision that will significantly impact the future of education in Nevada," she stated. "We firmly believe that the perspectives of our community members are invaluable in this process. This survey provides a direct opportunity for everyone to share their thoughts on the leadership qualities and priorities they believe are essential for our next Superintendent."

The role of State Superintendent of Public Instruction is essential in Nevada, with responsibilities that include setting educational policies, managing resources, and ensuring compliance with state and federal mandates. The Superintendent is also pivotal in fostering a collaborative atmosphere among various stakeholders, aiming to support the educational success of Nevada's students.
