Dr. Brian L. Maher, Commissioner | Nebraska Department of Education
The Nebraska Department of Education and the Nebraska Seal of Biliteracy Advisory Committee have awarded 269 Seals of Biliteracy to 268 students in Nebraska in the April 2025 round. This distinction acknowledges high school students who have shown proficiency in English and at least one additional language.
The award aligns with the Nebraska World Language Standards, which concentrate on communication, cultures, connections, communities, and cognition in languages other than English.
In the April 2025 awards, students demonstrated their language skills in Chinese, French, German, and Tamil. A list of award recipients with parental permission is available separately.
"This recognition is a testament to the hard work these students have put into mastering another language, an essential skill in our globalized world," a representative stated.
