National PTA has announced Howie Berman as its new executive director. With over 20 years of experience in nonprofit associations, including a significant focus on education, Berman steps into this role following his tenure as interim executive director for the National Federation of Modern Language Teachers Associations (NFMLTA). His background also includes leadership roles at ACTFL and the American Society for Cell Biology.
Yvonne Johnson, president of National PTA, expressed enthusiasm about Berman's appointment: “We are thrilled to name Howie our new executive director. Howie brings extensive experience in education and the nonprofit association space, which will be a tremendous asset as our association continues our critical work to make a difference for the education, health, safety and well-being of every child.”
Berman holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Richmond and a master's degree from the University of Chicago. He is recognized as a Certified Association Executive.
Reflecting on his new position, Berman stated: "National PTA has an extraordinary, impactful legacy. There could not be a more important time for being a powerful voice for all children and families... I look forward to working with the dedicated Board of Directors, talented staff...and countless volunteers."
Berman will assume his duties with National PTA on May 19, 2025. The organization is known for its commitment to children's educational success and family engagement in schools. Membership is open to anyone interested in contributing to these goals.
