Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn, along with other officials from the Shapiro Administration, participated in an event focused on invasive species removal and ecosystem restoration. The gathering took place at the Cumberland County Conservation District during the "Invasive Replace-ive" event organized by the Governor's Invasive Species Council.

The event was attended by representatives from several state departments, including DCNR, the Department of Agriculture (PDA), the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC), and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC). The focus was on how replacing invasive plants with native species can help restore habitats, protect wildlife, and enhance biodiversity. Attendees received native plants to aid in their personal restoration projects. This event is part of a series of five similar events held across Pennsylvania this spring, all of which reached full capacity quickly.

These initiatives are aligned with Governor Shapiro's dedication to safeguarding Pennsylvania's natural resources while engaging local communities to foster healthier ecosystems throughout the state.

Speakers at the event included Deputy Secretary Fred Strathmeyer Jr. from the Department of Agriculture, Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn from DCNR, Timothy Schaeffer, Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission, and Timothy Haydt, Director of the Bureau of Wildlife Habitat Management at the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
