Stephen D. Dackin, Director | Ohio Department of Education and Workforce
Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Director Stephen D. Dackin has recommended Dr. Diane M. Allen for the role of deputy director of the Department’s Division of Primary and Secondary Education. Allen, who has been a superintendent at Marysville Exempted Village School District since 2012, is recognized for her focus on student-centered learning and strategic planning.
Governor Mike DeWine expressed his support, stating, “I am pleased to have Diane Allen join us in our mission to advance K-12 learning across the state.” He emphasized her experience as an asset in ensuring every Ohio student can reach their potential.
Allen's efforts have included expanding career and technical pathways and forming partnerships that provide students with real-world skills. Director Dackin noted, “Diane has a proven track record of driving achievement through forward-thinking leadership.”
The reimagined Department of Education and Workforce under Governor DeWine includes two divisions: one focused on primary and secondary education, where Allen is recommended to serve, and another on career-technical education led by Deputy Director Jeremy Varner. The recommendation awaits confirmation by the Ohio Senate, with Allen expected to begin in July.
