Character.org, an organization focused on promoting character development, has certified 230 initiatives as "Promising Practices" for their impact in schools and organizations. The announcement was made from Washington, DC.
Dr. Arthur Schwartz, President of Character.org, expressed pride in the recognized programs. “We are extremely proud to recognize the schools and organizations that have developed and implemented a Promising Practice,” he stated. “Each of these programs and practices have demonstrated significant impact and strongly align with the principles that help schools and organizations cultivate a culture of character.”
The selected practices cover various areas such as peer mentoring, service-learning opportunities linked to classroom learning, student empowerment in voice and leadership, intrinsic motivation for ethical behavior, and fostering inclusive school communities. These practices often involve collaboration with parents and local communities.
The list includes numerous schools across different states in the United States like Alabama's Big Sandy Elementary and Arizona's Imagine Prep at Surprise. It also extends internationally to institutions in Canada like Nile Academy, Mexico's HighPoint International School Chihuahua, the Philippines' Southville International School and Colleges, among others.
Character.org continues its mission to highlight effective character-building strategies through these certifications.
