The Maryland State Board of Education is set to convene on Tuesday, June 24, at 9 a.m. The meeting will take place at the Nancy S. Grasmick State Education Building in Baltimore.

During the session, the board plans to review a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Accountability and Implementation Board (AIB). This document outlines each party's roles and responsibilities concerning the implementation of the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future.

The Special Education Workgroup is scheduled to present its final recommendations. These recommendations include strategies aimed at enhancing services and outcomes for students with disabilities. Additionally, new social studies standards are expected to be adopted by the board. These standards focus on promoting tolerance, understanding, improved student outcomes, and alignment with best practices.

Recognition will also be given to outstanding school leaders honored by both the Maryland Association of Elementary School Principals and the Maryland Association of Secondary School Principals.

Public comments are welcome during this meeting, both in person and virtually. Registration is capped at 15 individuals on a first-come, first-served basis—10 in the morning session and five in the afternoon. A waiting list may be established once capacity is reached. Interested parties must register by Friday, June 20 at 11:59 p.m., using an online form. Registrants will receive confirmation if selected to comment. Each speaker is allotted three minutes for their remarks.

For those interested in following along remotely or reviewing details ahead of time, both the complete agenda and a livestream are accessible online.
