Commissioner of Education Angélica Infante-Green | Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
Governor Dan McKee, Education Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green, and the Rhode Island Department of Education have announced the winner of the 2025 STEAM Logo Design Contest. Alondra Robles, a junior at North Kingstown High School, was recognized for her creative design that will represent STEAM Month 2025.
“Rhode Island has a deep commitment to promoting STEAM education,” said Governor Dan McKee. “Congratulations to Alondra, whose design is a visual demonstration of how science, technology, engineering, art, and most importantly, mathematics intertwine with each other.”
The contest invited high school students across Rhode Island to create a logo and slogan as part of the Math Matters RI campaign. The initiative aims to highlight the importance of STEAM education—Science (S), Technology (T), Engineering (E), Arts (A), and Mathematics (M).
“STEAM education engages our students in experiential learning, collaboration, and problem-solving,” said Education Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green. “Alondra’s inspiring design incorporates all these elements. It’s a proud day for Alondra, her family, and her teachers.”
Alondra's winning design will be featured on marketing materials throughout the next school year and during Rhode Island’s annual STEAM Educator Awards in November. These awards are organized by the Rhode Island STEAM Center at Rhode Island College with support from RI Energy/PPL Foundation.
“This logo is to celebrate Rhode Island STEAM Month 2025,” stated Alondra. “It incorporates different symbols for each field, coming together to form a cohesive and innovative design that showcases what STEAM embodies.”
State leaders also announced that applications are open for the annual Rhode Island STEAM Educator Award. This award will recognize one elementary educator (grades PK-5), one middle school educator (grades 6-8), and one high school educator (grades 9-12) for their innovative teaching methods.
“Alondra’s design is a brilliant representation of the creativity and curiosity at the heart of STEAM education,” said Douglas Alexander, Director of the RI STEAM Center. “We’re immensely proud to feature her artwork throughout STEAM Month 2025.”
Winners of the award will receive recognition in November along with grants provided by PPL Foundation for classroom projects as well as personal awards funded by RI Energy.
Eligible educators must be full-time PK-12 teachers in public schools in Rhode Island with at least three years of experience. They can apply or nominate themselves until October 24, 2025.
