Governor Josh Shapiro recently participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for JMB Gardens, a new affordable housing community in Uptown Harrisburg. The event was attended by local and state leaders, including Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Famer LeSean McCoy, who is also the founder of Vice Capital, LLC—the real estate firm behind the project.
JMB Gardens is a 41-unit development that received over $1.3 million in funding from the Commonwealth. It represents a $16.7 million investment aimed at providing safe and affordable housing while revitalizing the neighborhood. The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) played a significant role in supporting this initiative.
Governor Shapiro emphasized the importance of such projects, stating, "Every Pennsylvanian deserves a safe, stable place to call home - and that's what JMB Gardens delivers for more than 40 families here in Harrisburg." He highlighted his administration's commitment to making substantial investments in housing across Pennsylvania.
The event featured several speakers: Brian Hudson, former PHFA Executive Director; Senator Patty Kim; Robin Wiessmann, Executive Director and CEO of PHFA; Harrisburg Mayor Wanda Williams; and LeSean McCoy.
