The SkillsUSA Maryland student delegation achieved notable success at the 61st Annual National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC) in Atlanta, bringing home 26 medals. The team of Career and Technical Education (CTE) students competed against 6,800 other participants from across the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
Maryland students excelled in various categories, earning gold medals in Criminal Justice, Culinary Arts, Promotional Bulletin Board, and Sheet Metal. Silver medals were awarded for Community Service, Digital Cinema Production, Firefighting, Nurse Assisting, and Photography. Bronze medals went to competitors in Advertising Design, Audio Production, Early Childhood Education, Entrepreneurship, Mobile Robotics Technology, Photography again, and Restaurant Service.
Dr. Carey M. Wright praised the students' achievements: “Maryland’s SkillsUSA students have once again proven the power of high-quality Career and Technical Education,” she said. “Their success on the national stage reflects not only their talent and hard work but also the dedication of our educators and the strength of our CTE programs.”
SkillsUSA Maryland is a leading Career and Technical Student Organization with a membership of 5,100 high school students statewide. Members participate in various leadership events throughout the year.
