National Education Association (NEA) President Becky Pringle has issued a statement following a decision made at the NEA's 2025 Representative Assembly. Delegates voted to recommend that the NEA Executive Committee refrain from using, endorsing, or publicizing materials from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) or participating in ADL programs.
Pringle emphasized that this vote automatically refers the matter to the NEA Executive Committee as per NEA rules on sanctions and boycotts. She stated, “As educators, we know that before making any decision, we must do our own research, listening, and learning.”
The process has already begun with discussions involving Jewish leaders, civil rights leaders, academic practitioners, and elected officials. Pringle also met with Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the Anti-Defamation League, to discuss NEA’s procedures and reaffirm their commitment to combating antisemitism.
The NEA is known for its efforts against antisemitism and providing resources for educators. Pringle reiterated the importance of increasing understanding and fostering a culture of respect and inclusion among students. She declared that “antisemitism has no place in our union, in public education, or in our country.”
The organization will proceed with integrity and authenticity through its established processes. Pringle assured that their actions would be guided by their mission, vision, and core values.
The National Education Association represents over 3 million professionals across various educational roles.
