In a recent report, researchers have utilized data from the American Instructional Resources Survey covering the years 2019 to 2024. The study focused on the use of instructional materials by kindergarten through grade 12 (K–12) teachers in English language arts, mathematics, and science.
The report analyzed three main aspects: the frequency of new material usage by teachers in these subjects, the quantity of materials reported being used, and how teachers modified these resources. Additionally, it examined how perceptions of school leaders and professional learning influenced teachers' use of instructional materials.
The findings aim to provide valuable insights for researchers, policymakers at state education departments, as well as school and district leaders. It also offers suggestions for enhancing future use of instructional materials among K–12 educators.
