School improvement presents a complex challenge, particularly in comprehensive support and improvement (CSI) schools facing multiple issues simultaneously. A new report aims to guide state education agencies (SEAs) in supporting these schools by summarizing resources identified and developed by SEAs, insights from national technical assistance (TA) providers, and effective practices from research literature. This creates a national overview of state supports for evidence-based comprehensive school reform.
The guide's objective is to help SEAs improve their support for schools undergoing comprehensive reform amid increasing responsibilities and decreasing resources. SEA leaders can use the report to compare their efforts with those of other SEAs and national trends, identify gaps in their supports, and find ideas for enhancement. Additionally, it assists organizations that support SEAs, like TA providers, in identifying where their support is most needed.
A separate annex titled "Profiles of State Supports for Evidence-Based Whole School Improvement" offers detailed information on the approaches taken by each state and the District of Columbia.
