Nebraska students shine at FCCLA national conference

Nebraska FCCLA members showcased their talents and leadership at the recent FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida. Held from July 5-9, 2025, the event brought together over 10,500 participants, including 385 attendees from Nebraska.

The conference aimed to inspire students with its "Dare to Dream" theme. Jaiden Ertzner and Lia Montenegro represented Nebraska as candidates for the National Executive Council but did not advance to the top ten. Both will continue their roles as Leadership Liaisons.

Harrison Koehn of Elmwood-Murdock Public Schools was recognized with the national FCCLA Go for the Red Individual Award for recruiting new members and received a $150 Amazon gift card. Dawson Conyers from Minden High School won the Grand Prize in the FCCLA Safe Roads Challenge, earning an all-expense-paid trip to Orlando.

Blake Dahlberg, Superintendent at Thedford Public Schools, received the 2024-25 FCCLA National School Administrator Award for his dedication to Career and Technical Education (CTE) and support of local chapters. Battle Creek FCCLA was named Runner Up in the Stand Up National Program for their Pink Out event raising funds for cancer patients.

Sarah Hubel of Cross County Community Schools received the Spirit of Advising Award. Shayla Jacobsen participated in a signing event committing to a career in Family & Consumer Sciences (FCS).

Nebraska's participation included competing in various events such as Online Challenge Tests and STAR Events, resulting in numerous medals and top ten awards.

FCCLA supports youth through Family and Consumer Sciences education with over 255,000 members nationwide. It remains unique among youth organizations by being member-run and focusing on careers that support families.
