Pennsylvania Department of Aging Secretary Jason Kavulich, along with regional leaders in Cameron County, announced a $3 million investment in the state's Senior Community Center (SCC) grant program. This funding aims to support projects that help older adults remain healthy and connected within their communities.

"Senior Community Centers are a valuable resource to older adults in every corner of the Commonwealth. Whether it's a meal, health and wellness activities, or socializing, these centers help our seniors thrive and continue to live independently as they age," said Secretary Kavulich. "These investments are crucial to the SCCs to ensure they are welcoming, inclusive assets to the local area and the people it serves."

The Emporium Senior Center is one of the beneficiaries of this year's competitive grants, receiving $55,546 for improvements such as upgrading its HVAC system and lighting. Additionally, 13 other SCCs in the Cameron/Elk/McKean Area Agency on Aging service area were each awarded $2,525 from a permanent $1 million non-competitive grant track secured by Governor Josh Shapiro's first budget.

Speakers at the event included Kim Briggs, Executive Director of Cameron/Elk/McKean Area Agency on Aging; Secretary of Aging Jason Kavulich; Don Perry, Board President of Emporium Senior Center; Jessica Herzing, Cameron County Commissioner; and Tamara Bleggi, Field Representative for Senator Cris Dush.
