The federal government has lifted a pause on the review of grant funds that were under scrutiny by the Trump administration. Arizona Department of Education Superintendent Tom Horne expressed relief at the release of these funds, which he had anticipated.

"The release of federal funds that were being reviewed by the Trump administration is good news and no surprise to me," Horne said. He explained that the review was intended to ensure that education tax dollars are used for advancing academic goals rather than for ideological purposes.

Horne addressed concerns about the potential loss of funding, saying, "When the pause occurred, a lot of people panicked thinking the money would go away entirely. I said at the time that this was merely a pause for review and that is exactly what happened." He assured that his department will work diligently to distribute these funds quickly.

The withheld amount was approximately $124 million, constituting about one percent of overall school funding in Arizona.
