Governor Josh Shapiro opened the Summit on the State of PJM Interconnection in Philadelphia, which gathered representatives from all 13 states within the PJM network and various regional stakeholders. In his remarks, Shapiro highlighted the importance of updating PJM’s infrastructure to meet energy needs for approximately 65 million people across the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest.
The summit is described as a historic meeting focused on the future of energy delivery and grid reliability for a large portion of the United States. Governor Shapiro addressed participants about modernizing PJM to ensure that it can keep up with increasing demand and changing energy landscapes.
He stated, "During his remarks, the Governor will underscore the urgent need for PJM to modernize and adapt in order to meet the energy demands of 65 million Americans across the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest."
