Anastasios Kamoutsas, Commissioner at Florida Department Of Education | Florida Department Of Education
Florida’s Department of Education has announced a $40 million investment to expand workforce education programs throughout the state. The funding, awarded through the Workforce Development Capitalization Incentive Grant Program (Workforce CAP), aims to boost training in high-demand industries.
According to Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas, “Florida’s workforce is stronger than ever because we are investing directly in students and the programs that prepare them for success. This $40 million investment expands opportunities across the state, giving students access to cutting-edge training and ensuring Florida remains the best place to build a career.”
This round of funding will strengthen 49 programs statewide and is expected to increase workforce capacity for those programs by 59 percent. Since its inception in 2023, Workforce CAP has provided a total of $240 million toward workforce education initiatives in Florida.
The Workforce CAP program supports both high school and postsecondary education programs, providing hands-on training opportunities for students entering fields that are critical to Florida’s economy. The grants help establish and expand career and technical education pathways that lead to industry-recognized certifications.
Commissioner Kamoutsas emphasized that these funds ensure students across Florida have access to necessary tools, resources, and training for success in emerging industries. Additional details about the grant awards and application process can be found on the CAP Grant page of the Florida Department of Education website.
