Two Nevada high school students have been recognized as 2025 U.S. Presidential Scholars by the U.S. Department of Education. The announcement was made Friday, with a total of 161 seniors nationwide selected for their achievements in academics, the arts, and career and technical education.
Governor Joe Lombardo praised the honorees, stating: “I’m proud of Roxy and Joshua, Nevada’s 2025 Presidential Scholars. These students have exemplified excellence in their academic pursuits and public service initiatives, and they are model students and citizens. Our state is tremendously proud of them.”
The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program has honored outstanding graduating seniors since its establishment in 1964. Selection criteria include academic success, essays, community service, and leadership.
Dr. Steve Canavero, Interim Superintendent of Public Instruction, also offered his congratulations: “Congratulations to Roxy and Joshua for being named Presidential Scholars. This prestigious designation is one of the nation’s highest honors for high school students. Roxy and Joshua are shining examples of the exceptional caliber of students here in Nevada and I am thrilled that they will represent our state.”
