Governor Shapiro and officials report progress on downtown Pittsburgh revitalization

Governor Josh Shapiro and Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis are set to join Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato, Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey, representatives from the city’s major sports teams, and other local officials to announce progress on efforts to revitalize Downtown Pittsburgh. The event will take place on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 11:30 AM near the intersection of Art Rooney Avenue and North Shore Drive.

The announcement comes a year after the launch of a plan aimed at making Downtown Pittsburgh safer and cleaner. According to organizers, investments from both public and private sectors have contributed to improvements in the area.

Those expected to attend include David Morehouse, Executive Vice President for Strategy at the Pittsburgh Steelers; Travis Williams, President of the Pittsburgh Pirates; Commander Timothy Novosel of the Pittsburgh Police; Erin Dalton, Director of the Allegheny County Department of Human Services; Leader Jay Costa from Pennsylvania’s 43rd Senatorial District; and Senator Wayne Fontana from Pennsylvania’s 42nd Senatorial District.
