Superintendent Lindel Fields has been appointed as Oklahoma’s new State Superintendent of Public Instruction, following an announcement by Governor Stitt this week.
In his first statement since taking the role, Fields said, “Our mission is clear: it’s a new day for Oklahoma students, and I am laser-focused on turning the ship around. As I transition into this role, I want to reassure the public that I will fight every day for our students, parents, and teachers, while staying true to the values of all Oklahomans.”
Fields outlined plans to address internal challenges within the department and improve communication across all levels. He intends to engage with educators and community members through town halls, individual meetings, and surveys in order to gather input on educational priorities.
“The Oklahoma State Department of Education is excited about this transition, and is looking forward to continuing the work being done on behalf of Oklahoma students. We are committed to maintaining transparency and open communication. I encourage you to reach out with any questions as we move forward together. Please grant us your patience as we navigate this transition,” said Superintendent Fields.
