Pennsylvania Department of Aging Secretary Jason Kavulich is set to introduce a new web-based platform designed to enhance the hiring and screening process for in-home care workers across the state. The tool will be available to the Commonwealth's 52 Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) and aims to rate and verify the hiring and screening practices of in-home care providers who contract with Pennsylvania's aging network.
Secretary Kavulich will be joined by Lehigh County officials, including County Executive Phil Armstrong, Commissioner Geoff Brace, and JR Reed, Executive Director of the Lehigh County Office of Aging and Adult Services. The group will discuss how the new screening tool is intended to increase transparency in the hiring process, empower families and older adults to make informed decisions, and help protect seniors from abuse, neglect, and fraud.
"The new screening tool will help build confidence in in-home care services, empower families and their loved ones to make informed decisions and protect older adults from abuse, neglect and fraud," Secretary Kavulich said.
The announcement event will take place on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 1:30 PM at the Cedar View Apartment Complex in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Media representatives interested in attending are asked to RSVP with the Pennsylvania Department of Aging.
