Governor Josh Shapiro and Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture Russell Redding are scheduled to visit Talview Dairy Farm in Lebanon County to mark the preservation of more than 6,500 farms and 650,000 acres of farmland across the state. This figure represents the largest amount of preserved farmland in the United States.
The event highlights the economic importance of agriculture in Pennsylvania, which contributes $132 billion to the state’s economy and supports nearly 600,000 jobs. According to the announcement, Governor Shapiro has provided significant support to the agriculture sector during his first two years in office, including efforts to reduce regulatory barriers and modernize government operations to assist farms and agricultural businesses.
Other attendees at the event will include Brent Copenhaver, owner of Talview Dairy Farm; Stephanie Zimmerman, Director of the Pennsylvania Bureau of Farmland Preservation; and Paul Bametzreider, Chairman of the Lebanon County Preservation Board.
