Shapiro-Davis Administration highlights domestic violence prevention efforts and funding in Harrisburg event

The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) and the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence (PCADV) are collaborating with local domestic violence programs and law enforcement to raise awareness about domestic violence and available resources. The event aims to educate communities on recognizing, preventing, and responding to domestic violence. It will highlight initiatives such as the Lethality Assessment Program and PCCD's Victims Compensation Assistance Program (VCAP).

The Shapiro-Davis Administration has proposed a $9 million investment in the 2025-26 state budget for VCAP. This program provides financial support to individuals who have experienced crime victimization, including survivors of domestic violence.

The event will take place on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 1 PM at the PCCD Headquarters in Harrisburg. The speakers will include Kathy Buckley, Director of the Office of Victims' Services at PCCD; Jennifer Beittel, Chief Philanthropic and Communications Officer at PCADV; Dr. Jenna Mehnert Baker, Policy Director at PCADV; Delia Sanchez, a survivor of domestic violence and Legal Advocate/Paralegal at Domestic Violence Services of Lancaster County; Christine Gilfillan, Director of Domestic Violence Services of Lancaster County; Stephanie Spurgeon, Direct Services Supervisor at Domestic Violence Services of Cumberland & Perry Counties; and Jason Yerg, Chief of Police of Hampden Township Police Department.
