Vermont Agency of Education announces workshops for afterschool grants and threat assessment teams

The Vermont Agency of Education has announced several upcoming initiatives and workshops aimed at supporting school professionals and afterschool program development.

A workshop to assist with applications for the Center and Program Track State Afterschool Grants is scheduled for October 29 at 10:30 AM. The session, to be held via Microsoft Teams, is intended to help schools and organizations develop and expand afterschool and summer programs. Interested participants are encouraged to join the Interested Applicants list or contact Johannes Haensch at Johannes.Haensch@vermont.gov for more information or to request a recording of the workshop.

In partnership with the Vermont School Safety Center, the Agency will also hold Behavioral Threat Assessment (BTA) Team workshops on December 9 and 10. These in-person sessions are designed to help current and future BTA teams build and maintain effective threat assessment programs. Further details, including locations, will be provided in the coming weeks. The Agency notes that these workshops are optional and separate from the required annual BTA training. Additionally, BTA open office hours have resumed for the 2025-2026 school year. Office hours are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00 to 1:00 PM, offering ongoing support for school threat assessment teams. Topics for upcoming weeks include students with autism and BTA, interviewing, and safety planning. The Agency provides a dedicated meeting link for those wishing to participate.
