Josh Shapiro, Governor | Pennsylvania Government
The Shapiro Administration is encouraging Pennsylvania residents to participate in National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, October 25. The initiative aims to help individuals dispose of unused and unwanted medications and encourages people to obtain Narcan for use in case of an overdose.
This year’s event is organized in partnership with the Keystone Contractors Association. The focus is on raising awareness about substance use disorder (SUD) within the construction industry. Organizers will discuss joint efforts to provide education, prevention resources, and support for employees facing SUD.
"Photos and video may be taken of the active construction site and Narcan that will be onsite," according to event details.
Prescription drug take-back programs are available throughout the year, allowing individuals to drop off medications at secure locations across Pennsylvania.
Speakers at the event will include Dr. Latika Davis-Jones, Secretary of the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs; Major General John Pippy from the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs; Sergeant Logan Brouse of the Pennsylvania State Police; Jon O'Brien, Executive Director of the Keystone Contractors Association; and State Senator John Kane.
The event is scheduled for October 21, 2025, at 11:30 AM at 1105 South Front Street in Harrisburg, at the site of the future Veterans Village apartment complex.
For those interested in attending, RSVPs are requested by email with reporter name and media outlet.
