Pennsylvania officials will visit Spiral Path Farms in Loysville on December 10, 2025, to highlight the availability of health insurance coverage for farmers through Pennie, the state’s official health insurance marketplace. The event is scheduled for 1:30 PM and will feature Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner Michael Humphreys, Department of Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding, and Pennie Executive Director Devon Trolley.
Many farmers in Pennsylvania do not receive health insurance through their employers. Their income can also vary from season to season, making access to affordable health coverage a concern. During the visit, officials aim to remind farmers that Pennie's Open Enrollment period is currently underway and is the main opportunity each year for individuals and families to enroll in coverage for 2026. Open Enrollment typically runs from November 1 to December 15 for coverage starting January 1, 2026. Outside this window, only those experiencing certain life changes are eligible to enroll.
Other attendees at the event will include Pasa Sustainable Agriculture Executive Director Hannah Smith Brubaker, Pennsylvania State Grange President Matt Espenshade, and Spiral Path Farms owner Will Brownback.
Members of the press who wish to attend must RSVP via email at ra-in-press@pa.gov.
