Attorney General Dave Sunday, along with several law enforcement officials and local leaders, will address the public on October 29 regarding efforts to disrupt fentanyl trafficking in southeastern Pennsylvania. The event will highlight collaborative work that has led to significant seizures of fentanyl, which has increasingly replaced heroin as the primary opioid trafficked in the region.

The speakers at the press conference will include Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel, Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele, Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent in Charge Wayne Jacobs, Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent in Charge Edward Owens, Brian Michael from Liberty Mid Atlantic HIDTA, representatives from the Pennsylvania State Police, and several police chiefs from surrounding counties.

The event is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at the Office of Attorney General located at 1600 Arch Street in Philadelphia. Credentialed media are required to RSVP and may begin arriving at 2:15 p.m.

According to officials involved in these operations, the rise of fentanyl as a substitute for heroin among traffickers has contributed to increased risks within communities across southeastern Pennsylvania. Law enforcement agencies have responded by intensifying their collaborative efforts and targeting distribution networks responsible for bringing large quantities of fentanyl into the area.

"Attorney General Sunday and other speakers will discuss the collaboration resulting in historic fentanyl seizures as the deadly substance takes the place of heroin as traffickers' opioid of choice."

This press conference aims to provide updates on recent milestones achieved through joint operations between state and federal authorities and local police departments.
