Anastasios Kamoutsas, Commissioner at Florida Department Of Education | Florida Department Of Education
The Florida Department of Education has announced the winners of the 3rd Annual Florida College System Cybersecurity Competition. The event, held virtually, brought together students from across Florida College System (FCS) institutions to test their cybersecurity skills in a simulated environment designed to reflect real-world industry challenges.
Nearly 4,500 students are currently enrolled in FCS cybersecurity programs, where they receive practical training and hands-on experience aimed at preparing them for careers in the growing field of cybersecurity.
Commissioner of Education Anastasios Kamoutsas commented on the competition: “Witnessing these students tackle complex cybersecurity challenges has been truly impressive. Their ingenuity, perseverance and critical thinking skills demonstrate that Florida is cultivating a strong cybersecurity pipeline. Thanks to their hard work and dedication, the future of cybersecurity in our great state is incredibly bright.”
All participants received cyber range certification from Global Business Solutions, Inc. Winners were determined through a ranking system that measured how well teams managed and defended network infrastructures during simulations. The event was supported by several organizations including the Florida Department of Education, the Florida College System Foundation, the Florida Student Success Center, Capital City Wealth, Cyber Florida and Bill Cramer Chevrolet.
The competition is part of an initiative led by the FCS Cybersecurity Collaborative. This group brings together leaders from all 28 FCS institutions to share best practices and build partnerships aimed at expanding opportunities for students and strengthening Florida’s cybersecurity workforce.
