The Pennsylvania Departments of Labor & Industry (L&I) and Human Services (DHS) are marking the beginning of the 2025 holiday season by donating stuffed toys collected during L&I's annual safety inspections. The announcement was made ahead of an event scheduled for November 13, 2025, at 651 Boas St., Harrisburg.
According to state procedures, before a stuffed toy is allowed to be sold in Pennsylvania, it must first pass a safety inspection by L&I inspectors. After approval, the sample toys are no longer required for regulatory purposes and become eligible for donation. These items will be distributed to families in need through the DHS Holiday Wish program.
L&I Secretary Nancy A. Walker and DHS Executive Deputy Secretary Andrew Barnes are set to participate in the event.
"Once approved, the sample is no longer needed and can be donated. These toys will be distributed to Pennsylvania families through DHS' Holiday Wish program," according to officials from both departments.
Media representatives interested in covering the event have been asked to RSVP with their contact information.
