The Pennsylvania Departments of Labor & Industry (L&I) and Human Services (DHS) announced that L&I safety inspectors have approved over 1,000 stuffed toys for sale in the state this year. These inspections are part of routine procedures to ensure toys meet safety standards before reaching children.

To mark the beginning of the 2025 holiday season, the departments donated these approved stuffed toys through DHS's Holiday Wish program. The initiative aims to distribute toys to families across Pennsylvania.

Nancy A. Walker, Secretary of L&I, said, "This annual tradition reminds us of what public service is truly about: protecting people's safety while spreading hope and joy to families across Pennsylvania. In times that can feel especially heavy, small acts of generosity can make a big difference. The Shapiro Administration is proud to support programs like Holiday Wish that bring light to our communities and remind us of the power of giving back."

Other officials present at the announcement included Trevor Monk, communications director for Labor & Industry, and Andrew Barnes, Executive Deputy Secretary at DHS.
