The Shapiro Administration has contributed to the planting of 33 trees in the Cloverly Heights neighborhood of south Harrisburg as part of a statewide initiative. The effort is included in a $500,000 investment aimed at increasing shade, reducing stormwater runoff, and enhancing community spaces across Pennsylvania.
The event brought together Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn, Harrisburg Mayor Wanda R.D. Williams, city staff, and volunteers. The newly planted trees include oaks, serviceberry, and eastern redbuds.
"The trees we plant today will stand long after us. They'll make our neighborhoods healthier, our air cleaner, and our future a little brighter," said Secretary Dunn.
Other speakers at the event included Cody Legge, City Forester; Jessica Cavey, Director of TreePennsylvania; Wanda Williams, Harrisburg Mayor; and David Madsen, Pennsylvania House Representative.
