Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding is set to launch the 2026 dog licensing campaign in Pennsylvania. The event, taking place at Orchard Hills Training Center in Barto, will feature demonstrations by the Montgomery County 4-H Speedy Paws Dog Agility Club. Dogs participating will be wearing their Pennsylvania dog licenses and sports attire from local teams.
Secretary Redding plans to emphasize that obtaining a dog license is not only a legal obligation but also serves to protect dogs and communities across the state. He stated that licensing helps ensure safety for all dogs and the neighborhoods they inhabit.
The campaign comes after Governor Josh Shapiro's administration implemented changes to strengthen Pennsylvania's Dog Law. These measures aim to improve conditions for dogs in kennels and shelters, as well as enhance efforts to address issues with stray and dangerous dogs.
Joining Secretary Redding at the event will be Kristen Donmoyer, Director of the Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement; Bill Caldwell, Montgomery County First Deputy Treasurer; and Heather Eckenrode, sponsor of the Montgomery County 4-H Speedy Paws Dog Agility Club, along with club members and their dogs.
The event is scheduled for Thursday, November 20 at 1 p.m. Press planning to attend are asked to RSVP by contacting aginfo@pa.gov.
