The Vermont Agency of Education has announced several updates and opportunities for educators and school communities. The agency is currently seeking candidates to join its Education Transition Team, which will support major legislative initiatives. Two positions are open: Education Transition Support Specialist for District Operations and Education Transition Support Specialist for Facilities Management. A webinar titled "Using Universal Screening to Meet Social/Emotional/Behavioral Needs" will be presented by Kym Asam on December 5, 2025, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. The session aims to provide an overview of how universal screening can help identify social, emotional, and behavioral risks in students, as well as the systems needed to implement such screening and align results with preventative practices. Registration closes on November 21.
Additionally, the agency, in partnership with the Vermont School Safety Center, will host Behavioral Threat Assessment (BTA) Team workshops on December 9 and 10. These workshops are intended for current BTA team members and will include a full case practice exercise led by national threat assessment experts.
For those involved in school behavioral threat assessment teams, required annual training dates for 2026 have been released. Details are available on the Behavioral Threat Assessment Annual Training page or the AOE BTA webpage.
Deputy Secretary Jill Briggs Campbell stated that the agency is looking for qualified candidates to fill critical roles supporting key legislative efforts.
