Round Rock Independent School District issued the following announcement.
District health and safety teams have taken great care in preparing campuses to receive students back to our schools safely.
These videos show how our elementary and secondary campuses will look and operate for the 2020-2021 school year.
For those who selected learning virtually, on Thursday, Oct. 1, campuses will begin accepting requests to change your student(s) instructional choice to on-campus, for the second grading period of the 2020-2021 school year, which begins Monday, Oct. 19. If your student(s) will continue virtual learning, no action is required. Your campus administration will be in touch soon to communicate the choice process.
This back-to-campus checklist can help prepare your student(s) for their return to campus on Tuesday, Sept. 15. If you have changed your mind and your student will remain at home and engage in virtual learning, please call your campus to let them know not to expect your student(s) back at school.
Before school health screening – Each day before you drop your student off at school or board the bus, please conduct a COVID-19 symptom assessment. Please do not send your child to school if they have any symptoms that they are ill.
Devices (Chromebook, laptop, or tablet) – Your students should bring a fully charged District issued device and the device power cord with them to campus each school day. If your student has a personal device, they are encouraged to bring it to school while participating in on-campus instruction. Student’s personal devices will be on boarded onto the District’s network. Please label your devices, power cords, and accessories with your student’s name. Sanitized devices are available at school for classroom use. If your student needs a device for home use, please contact your campus front office.
Face coverings – Students and staff are expected to wear clean face coverings during school hours. Please inform your student that they need to keep their face coverings on while at school to protect themselves and the health of others.
Face coverings include non-medical grade disposable face masks, cloth face coverings (over the nose and mouth) to protect the nose, and mouth. More details about face coverings are available in the Reimagining Education Plan. The CDC does not recommend that face shields be used for normal everyday activities or as a substitute for face coverings.
Pick-up/Drop-off – To avoid students gathering in groups and waiting, please drop off and pick up your student as close to start and dismissal times as possible. Students should proceed directly to class at the start of the school day or to their pick up location at the end of the school day.
Elementary School – 7:40 a.m. to 2:55 p.m.
Middle School – 8:20 a.m. to 3:35 p.m.
High School – 9:05 a.m. to 4:20 p.m.
Meals – Breakfast and lunch service is available. Students can help streamline lunch transactions by memorizing their 6-digit student ID or consider bringing meals from home. If your student doesn’t already know their student ID number, you can find it in Home Access Center.
Visit the Food Services website, or use the District Smartphone App to view menus, add funds to your student’s meal account or apply for free and reduced meal benefits
Students can refill their water bottles at hands-free bottle filling stations. Campus water fountains for individual use are not available.
Medications at school – To minimize the risk of exposure, campus visitors are limited to those essential to school operations. Please make an appointment with your school nurse to arrange for medicine drop-off if your student has medication that they are required to take during the school day. Required forms for medication at school.
Immunizations – The State of Texas K-12 Immunization Requirements has not changed. ALL students who attend on-campus instruction must have their vaccinations up-to-date before being allowed in school. Please email the campus nurse by Thursday, Sept. 10, with your student’s vaccination records.
Find low-cost vaccine finder by zip code and more vaccination resources. If you have further questions about vaccinations, please contact your campus nurse.
Student ID – Please have your student bring their student ID to school with them.
Supplies – Discuss with your student the importance of not sharing supplies. Students will need to bring their devices to access Schoology®, earbuds, or headphones, along with several writing utensils. Backpacks and supplies should be sanitized before returning to school the next school day. Supply list can vary by class; please visit your student’s teacher(s) website for details.
Hand sanitizer and other cleaning supplies will be available. If students prefer, they may bring their own hand sanitizer.
SMART Tag ID cards – If your student is registered for transportation, they have been or will be issued a SMART Tag ID card, which they will scan each time they load and unload the bus going to and from school. FAQs about SMART Tag.
Parents of bus riders can login to the SMART Tag parent portal to set up SMART Alert text notifications when and where your student gets on and off the bus.
