Report: Sparta School District spent $10,829 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Sparta Community Unit School District 140 was up 14.4 percent from five years ago, according to the Education Daily Wire analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Randolph County school district spent $9,465 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $10,829 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 1,304 to 1,177 students over the same period.

Sparta's spending in 2019-20 was 25.3 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
