Report: Granite City School District spent $10,801 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Granite City Community Unit School District 9 was down 3 percent from five years ago, according to the Education Daily Wire analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Madison County school district spent $11,139 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $10,801 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 6,365 to 5,990 students over the same period.

Granite City's spending in 2019-20 was 25.5 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
