Report: Shawnee School District spent $15,841 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Shawnee Community Unit School District 84 was up 31.1 percent from five years ago, according to the Education Daily Wire analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Union County school district spent $12,086 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $15,841 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 369 to 290 students over the same period.

Shawnee's spending in 2019-20 was 9.3 percent higher than the state average of $14,492.
