NEA President Becky Pringle issued a statement following the U.S. Senate's confirmation of Linda McMahon as Secretary of Education. Pringle expressed concern over McMahon's intentions, stating, "Every student - no matter where they live, how much their family earns, or the color of their skin - deserves the opportunity, resources, and support they need to grow into their full brilliance."

Pringle criticized McMahon's plans to "dismantle public education" by reducing resources and programs that benefit students with disabilities and making higher education less accessible. She also accused the Trump administration of redirecting taxpayer dollars from public schools to private institutions.

Despite hopes that McMahon would prioritize strengthening public schools, Pringle said there is little evidence she will focus on this mission. "Parents and educators are organizing, advocating, and mobilizing to stop Donald Trump and Linda McMahon from hurting students and gutting public education," she said.

The National Education Association (NEA) represents over 3 million members across various educational levels. The organization continues to advocate for public education nationwide.
