The Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) has announced the formation of the Teacher Freedom Alliance (TFA), an organization designed to support merit pay initiatives aimed at rewarding high-performing educators. This effort is part of OSDE's ongoing commitment to recognize and financially reward teachers who excel in enhancing student achievement and fostering classroom success.
"Oklahoma's students deserve the very best educators, and those who go above and beyond should be rewarded for their dedication," stated State Superintendent Ryan Walters. He emphasized that efforts to implement a system that rewards exceptional teachers have been hindered by teachers' unions.
The TFA is expected to play a crucial role in supporting the success and implementation of the merit pay program. This initiative aligns with OSDE’s broader objectives to modernize the state's education system, enhance accountability, and prioritize student outcomes. By recognizing educators who make a significant impact, OSDE aims to ensure that every student receives high-quality instruction.
“President Trump and Secretary McMahon have helped us shine a light on the counterproductive agenda of the Teachers’ Unions,” added Walters. “The TFA marks a new ‘Golden Age’ in the fight to make education great again.”
