Commissioner of Education Angélica Infante-Green | Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green and the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) have announced that the SurveyWorks initiative has received over 100,000 responses. This survey is a tool for students, families, and educators to provide feedback on the state's public education system. Since its opening in January 2025, more than 67,000 students, 23,000 families, and 10,000 educators and administrators have participated. The deadline for submissions has been extended to April 4, 2025.
In the previous year, RIDE collected over 130,000 responses—the highest ever—with significant participation from educators and families. Over 80,000 students contributed alongside more than 12,000 educators and nearly 36,000 families. This year’s goal is to surpass these numbers.
"The momentum surrounding SurveyWorks this year has been inspiring," said Education Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green. "We are delighted to be hearing from so many education stakeholders. The annual SurveyWorks is a crucial part of improving our education system. I strongly encourage all students, families and educators to complete the survey."
RIDE is highlighting schools that promote survey participation as part of their community engagement efforts. Kent Heights Elementary School in East Providence achieved full participation from students and educators with an impressive family response rate of 89%. Their strategy included multilingual instructions sent home with students, weekly reminders, social media promotion by RIDE, contests with incentives like pizza parties for students and raffles for families.
"We're incredibly proud that one of our very own East Providence schools is being recognized for their hard work to elevate the voices of students, families and school staff in SurveyWorks," said Superintendent Dr. Sandra Forand. "Direct input from the community members we serve is incredibly helpful as we work to improve the educational experience of East Providence families and educators. East Providence will continue to encourage all education stakeholders to participate."
RIDE will feature schools with high response rates on social media each week until the survey closes on April 4th. Participants can view district results from last year at the SurveyWorks Resource Center on RIDE's website.
