Fifty libraries across Michigan will host authors whose works have been recognized as 2025 Michigan Notable Books, as announced by the Library of Michigan. The Author Tour for these notable books is scheduled to take place from April through June.

In addition to the tour, the annual Night for Notables celebration is set for Saturday, April 26, at the Library of Michigan. This program selects 20 outstanding books published in the previous year that reflect various aspects of Michigan's ethnic, historical, literary, and cultural experiences.

State Librarian Mr. Randy Riley highlighted the importance of connecting authors with communities in Michigan: “Connecting authors with people across Michigan is one of the great aspects of the Michigan Notable Books program, especially in communities that don’t always have the opportunity to meet with high-caliber writers.”

Events during the author tour will occur throughout both peninsulas of Michigan. Details about these events can be found at Michigan.gov/NotableBooks.

State Superintendent Dr. Michael F. Rice expressed his support: “As an educator and promoter of literacy and reading, I appreciate the Michigan Notable Books Author Tour and the annual Night for Notables.”

The Night for Notables event will feature Curtis Chin as the keynote speaker. His book "Everything I Learned, I Learned in a Chinese Restaurant: A Memoir" was among those honored in 2024. Attendees will have opportunities to meet with notable authors during this celebration. More information about registration can be found on the Library of Michigan Foundation’s website.

The program and tour are supported by various organizations including the Library of Michigan Foundation and Michigan Humanities. Ms. Sarah Shaw from the foundation stated: “The Library of Michigan Foundation is proud to support the Michigan Notable Books program.”

For further details about these programs or events, interested parties can contact either the Library of Michigan or its foundation via phone or email.
